receive care from the charity's Community
Team - an ambition we achieved.
"Speaking with the hospice's occupational
therapists, they quickly arranged the
equipment Lee needed to return home, from
a hospital bed to standing aids - which took
the pressure off me.
"Until you are in that scenario, you're not
aware of the support available. St Elizabeth
Hospice took control of the situation, using
their expertise to enable me to be Lee's
partner rather than his carer, during the
precious time we had remaining together.
"Once home, the team visited regularly to
check on Lee and offer further support. Lee
even said, 'how amazing the hospice team are'
and appreciated their patience in answering
our questions.
"We also felt reassured knowing we could
call the hospice's 24/7 OneCall phone line,
which we often used at night.
"In total, Lee received two weeks of
care from St Elizabeth Hospice, at our
home, until his death. Throughout the
whole process, the team understood our
circumstances, providing individualised and
compassionate care."

hospice's Emotional & Wellbeing team before
moving to palliative care at the hospice's
Inpatient Unit in October 2020.
"The Inpatient Unit team were brilliant at
making him feel welcome and comfortable,
while keeping us fully up to date.
